SUMMARY:Elements of Shipboard Safety Brisbane - ESS
DESCRIPTION:Elements of Shipboard Safety or more commonly known as ESS.\n\nElements of Shipboard Safety (ESS) is the first sea safety certificate to work on commercial vessels located in Australia. These four subjects are also prerequisites for all commercial qualifications up to (and including) Master Class 4. Any crew on/or pursuing  a maritime career on commercial vessels will be required to complete this course within 6 months of working onboard a commercial vessel in Australia. \nDuring classroom workshops and practical demonstrations this course will aim to develop an awareness of: \n\n workplace health and safety issues in the maritime industry \nan ability to cope efficiently and effectively with emergency situations on board\npractical training in the use of life-jackets and life-rafts\, \nfire fighting \nflare activation\n\nCareer Opportunities   \n\nThis course could offer you the opportunity of securing a Deckhand on commercial fishing / trading vessels and/or entrance into traineeships. This qualification could lead to other career opportunities within the Maritime Industry as a Master\, Coxswain or a Marine Engine Driver on commercial ships. \nDuration       \nElements of Shipboard Safety Training \nThe ESS course is delivered over 2 days. \nRequirements for the days of training are the following:\n\nBoots/covered in shoes (Day 1 & 2)\nSun protection (Day 1 & 2)\nSwimmers  (Day 1)\nTowel (Day 1)\nLong sleeved shirt & trousers (Day 1 & 2)\nChange of clothes  (Day 1)\n\nTo complete the practical assessments throughout the course you will be required to swim\, extinguish fires\, visit a commercially registered vessel and activate a hand held flare. DESCRIPTION:Master 35M / Master 4 Course Upgrade Course\nTraining Master <35M on board Danial Thain \n\nCertificate IV in Maritime Operations\, Master 35M / Master 4\, if you already have your Master <24M under the current training package\, you maybe eligible to apply for the upgrade course\, a copy of your course certificate will need to be provided prior to enrolment being accepted. \n\n\nThis level of qualification is currently cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification as a Master 35M Near Coastal as defined by the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D. \nCertification as a Master 35M NC requires successful achievement of MAR40613 Certificate IV Maritime Operations including copies of; \n\nMaster less than 24 metres Near Coastal licence\,\nAn appropriate radio certificate of proficiency\,\nSuccessful completion of an AMSA final assessment\,\nAn AMSA approved first aid certificate.\n\nAnyone seeking licences should double check with AMSA as per requirements to convert your college certificate to a licence. \nMate less than 80M NC\nThis course meets the requirements as a Mate less than 80M NC as per the NSCV Part D.  In addition to achieving the MAR40613 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations you will need the following; \n\n\n\nqualifying sea service and/or\ncompleted AMSA approved task book\nan appropriate radio certificate of proficiency\,\nAMSA final assessment and an\nAMSA approved first aid certificate\n\n\n\nAgain anyone who wishes to apply for their Mate <80M should make contact with their local AMSA office to discuss their situation. It is possible to hold your Master 5 and your Mate 80M creating better job opportunities. \n\nCOURSE STRUCTURE\nClassroom sessions – If you enrol in a classroom session this can be completed in a 5 week time frame\, we start at 7am and work on Saturdays. Please be assured we do not move any quicker that the group can cope with\, so while we have allocated 5 weeks (30 days) it may be completed sooner. You will be required to complete your assignments in the evening and work on Sundays to complete you course work.\n \nRemote / Flexible – If you do not wish to attend classes or you do not have the time to attend you can study remotely. When you enrol and pay your course fees you will be issued all the course material and access to training resources and trainers to assist you through this process. All students will be assessed practically and this can be done at either of our Campus’s Cairns or Brisbane. \nOnline – We have an online portal where you can access all your resources and assignments\, all exams will need to be conducted at our offices or at an approved invigilation centre with your practical exam conducted in Brisbane on board our vessel. \n\nENROL NOW \n\n\n\n\n
