What is personal information?

For example, if you participate in education or training with one of our customers, we may collect information relating to your enrolment, units of study, demographic information (including gender, location and employment) and other information through our customer’s use of our education and training management solutions.

If you deal with us in some other capacity (for example, as a customer, supplier, contractor or job applicant), we may collect your name and contact details and any other information you choose to provide to us.  We may also collect details of the interactions that you have with us.

In some circumstances, we may need to collect sensitive information about you.  We will not do this unless you have consented to the collection (including by providing your information to a customer who processes or stores your information using our products or services), or if we are otherwise required or authorised to do so by or under law.  Sensitive information includes (for example) health information and information about a person’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, professional or trade association membership, sexual preferences and criminal record.

If you are or become our employee, the handling of your personal information may be exempt from the Australian Privacy Principles if it is directly related to your current or former employment relationship with us.

If we are unable to collect personal information from or about you, you may not be able to use our products or services or we may not be able to do business with you or the organisation with which you are connected.

  • supply products and services to our customers including education and training management solutions
  • manage our relationships with our customers, contractors and suppliers

  • attend to day to day administrative matters and facilitate ECA Maritime internal business operations

We may also disclose your personal information to other third parties and for other purposes where we are required or authorised by or under law to do so (including where you have provided your consent).
