Master <24m NC
Commercial Licenses – Deckhand.
This level of qualification is currently cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification as a Master <24M Near Coastal as defined by the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D. Certification will require achievement of the MAR30913 Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Master <24M NC), qualifying sea service and completed Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) approved task book or qualifying sea service, an appropriate radio certificate of proficiency, AMSA final assessment and an AMSA approved first aid certificate; people seeking certification should check with AMSA.
This qualification is suitable for people working in the maritime industry as a Master on commercial vessels up to 24 metres in length within the exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
Classroom – 3 – 4 weeks
Remote / Flexible – 12 months from enrollment date
Online – 12 months from enrollment date
Classroom sessions – If you enroll in a classroom session this can be completed in a 3 week time frame, we start at 7 am and work on Saturdays. Please be assured we do not move any quicker that the group can cope with, so while we have allocated 3 weeks (18 days) it may be completed sooner. You will be required to complete your assignments in the evening and work on Sundays to complete you course work.
Remote / Flexible – If you do not wish to attend classes or you do not have the time to attend you can study remotely. When you enrol and pay your course fees you will be issued all the course material and access to training resources and trainers to assist you through this process. All students will be assessed practically and this can be done at either of our Campus’s Cairns or Brisbane.
Online – We have virtual classrooms and these sessions can be accessed from anywhere in the world, they are live and interactive. All sessions are recorded for those who are unable to attend.

MARN003 Perform seamanship operations on board a vessel up to 24 metres
Pre – Requisite ( While the following modules are a prerequisite you do not necessarily need to complete prior to enrolling, you will need to have these completed to be issued you full certificate and complete your course)
MARF001 Apply basic survival skills in the event of vessel abandonment
MARF002 Follow procedures to minimise and fight fires on board a vessel
MARF004 Meet work health and safety requirements
MARF005 Survive at sea using survival craft
There are no entry requirements for this course, however to convert this certificate to a Marine Licence you must be 16 years of age when applying and meet all the Pre-Requisite checklist as per above.
