Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 NC

Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 NC or known as MED 1. This level of qualification is currently cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification as a Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal as defined by the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D.
Certification will require achievement of the MAR40513 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal), qualifying sea service and completed Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) approved task book or qualifying sea service or qualifying sea service and a workshop skill equivalent qualification, AMSA final assessment and an AMSA approved first aid certificate; people seeking certification should check with AMSA.
This qualification is suitable for people who work in the maritime industry operating as Chief Engineer on vessels with propulsion power up to 1500 kW and Second Engineer on vessels with propulsion power up to 3000 kW in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
Classroom – 4 – 5 weeks
Remote / Flexible – 12 months from enrolment date
Online – 12 months from enrolment
Classroom sessions – If you enrol in a classroom session this can be completed in a 4 week time frame, we start at 7am and work on Saturdays. Please be assured we do not move any quicker that the group can cope with, so while we have allocated 4 weeks (24 days) it may be completed sooner. You will be required to complete your assignments in the evening and work on Sundays to complete you course work.
Remote / Flexible – If you do not wish to attend classes or you do not have the time to attend you can study remotely. When you enrol and pay your course fees you will be issued all the course material and access to training resources and trainers to assist you through this process. All students will be assessed practically and this can be done at either of our Campus’s Cairns or Brisbane.
Online – We have virtual classrooms and these sessions can be accessed from anywhere in the world, they are live and interactive. All sessions are recorded for those who are unable to attend.

Pre – Requisite ( While the following modules are a prerequisite you do not necessarily need to complete prior to enrolling, you will need to have these completed to be issued you full certificate and complete your course)

MARF005 Survive at sea using survival craft
There are no entry requirements for this course; however you will need to meet the AMSA requirements to convert your certificate to a licence including a certain amount of commercially logged sea time.
